Currently, urban streetlights and landscape lighting are plagued by widespread energy waste, inefficiency, and inconvenient management. A single-lamp streetlight controller consists of a node controller installed on the light pole or lamp head, a centralized controller installed in the electrical control cabinets of each street or district, and a data processing center. Today, street lighting manufacturer TIANXIANG will introduce the functions of a single-lamp streetlight controller.
Based on preset conditions, a single-lamp streetlight control system can perform the following functions:
Automatically adjust power according to time of day. For example, reducing streetlight voltage by 10% in the second half of the night only reduces illumination by 1%. During this time, the human eye has adapted to the darkness, allowing more light to enter the pupil, thereby minimizing vision loss. During nighttime or peak electricity consumption periods, landscape lighting can automatically shut down, in whole or in part, at set times. Streetlight activation rules can be set for each district and street. For example, all streetlights can be turned on in key safety areas. In safe areas, guardrail sections, or low-traffic areas, streetlights can be activated and controlled proportionally (for example, turning on lights only on the inside or outside of the road, using a cycling lighting system, or reducing power to maintain visual illumination).
Energy Savings
Using a single streetlight control system, reduced power, cycling lighting, and single-sided lighting, energy savings are expected to be 30%-40% or even more. For a medium-sized town with 3,000 streetlights, this system could save 1.64 million to 2.62 million kWh of electricity annually, saving 986,000 to 1.577 million yuan in electricity bills.
Maintenance Cost-Effectiveness
With this system, real-time monitoring allows for timely line voltage adjustments, maintaining a constant voltage during the first half of the night to ensure illumination and protect lamps. A low-voltage regulation function during the second half of the night extends lamp life.
All voltage adjustments can be preset within the system or customized for holidays, weather conditions, and other special circumstances. Real-time monitoring of streetlight current provides early warnings of abnormal current draw at the end of a lamp’s lifespan. Lighting circuits that remain energized due to lamp or voltage issues will be promptly disconnected for inspection and repair.
Improving Management Efficiency and Streetlight Inspection and Maintenance
For municipal authorities, streetlight inspection and maintenance is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task requiring manual inspections. During daytime maintenance, all lights must be turned on, identified, and replaced one by one. This system makes identifying and repairing faulty streetlights incredibly simple. The system automatically identifies individual streetlight fault information and displays it on the monitoring screen. Maintenance personnel can locate and repair the streetlights directly based on their numbers, eliminating the need for manual inspections and saving time and effort.
Predefined Automatic Control
This system allows the control center to automatically schedule and control the switching and voltage of all city streetlights based on zones, road sections, time periods, directions, and intervals. It also supports real-time manual on/off control. The control center can pre-set time limits or natural brightness limits based on seasons, weather, and light intensity fluctuations. This system enables coordinated urban security and policing efforts and can synchronize streetlight switching to respond to emergencies. Power Equipment Operation Monitoring
A remote intelligent street light control system can assess the operating status of unattended electrical equipment based on power usage. All operating parameters (automatic power on/off times, zone divisions) can be configured and activated at any time from the management terminal.
