Solar street lights are safe, reliable, durable, and can save maintenance costs, which are common demands of users. Solar street lights are lamps installed outdoors. If you want to have a long service life, you must use the lamps correctly and pay attention to daily maintenance. As an important component of solar street lights, batteries need to be used correctly. So how do solar street lights use solar batteries correctly?
Generally speaking, the life of solar street light batteries is about a few years. However, the specific life will be affected by many factors, including battery quality, use environment, and maintenance.

As a famous China solar street light manufacturer, TIANXIANG always regards quality as its foundation - from the core solar panels, energy storage batteries to high-brightness LED light sources, each component is carefully selected from high-quality materials, and multiple quality inspection processes are carried out to ensure the service life of the street lights.
In order to extend the service life of solar street light batteries, we can take some measures. First of all, regular inspection and maintenance of the battery is essential, which can ensure that the battery is always in the best condition. Secondly, avoiding over-discharge and overcharging is also the key to extending the life of the battery. Choosing high-quality solar street light batteries and appropriate usage methods will help to increase the life of the battery, thereby better meeting the lighting needs of street lights.
Targeted strategies for different battery types
1. Lead-acid batteries (colloid/AGM)
High current discharge is prohibited: instantaneous current ≤3C (such as 100Ah battery discharge current ≤300A) to avoid the shedding of active substances on the plate;
Regularly add electrolyte: Check the liquid level every year (10~15mm higher than the plate), and add distilled water (do not add electrolyte or tap water) to prevent the plate from drying and cracking.
2. Lithium iron phosphate battery
Shallow charge and discharge strategy: Keep the power in the range of 30%~80% (i.e. voltage 12.4~13.4V) on a daily basis, and avoid long-term full-charge storage (exceeding 13.5V will accelerate oxygen evolution);
Balanced charging frequency: Use a dedicated charger for balanced charging once a quarter (voltage 14.6V, current 0.1C), and continue until the charging current drops below 0.02C.
3. Ternary lithium battery
Avoid high temperature environment: When the battery box temperature is >40 in summer, temporarily cover the battery panel to reduce the charging amount (reduce charging heat);
Storage management: When not in use for a long time, charge to 50%~60% (voltage 12.3~12.5V), and recharge once every 3 months to prevent over-discharge from damaging the BMS protection board.
The service life of solar street lights is closely related to the service life of batteries, so we must use, maintain and service batteries correctly and deal with problems in a timely manner.
